Privacy policy
The short version: you never need an account, we don't run ads or trackers, and we only keep what you choose to send us.

What we collect
Very little. You don't need an account, and we don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. We only receive information in two cases, both of which you choose:
- If you contact us. We receive the name, email address and message you type into our contact form. We use them only to read and reply to you. Name and email are optional.
- If you make a save code. We store your quiz answers, which checklist steps you've ticked and the state you picked, so you can load them on another device. A save code holds no name, email or contact details, and we store only a scrambled (hashed) version of the code itself.
What stays on your device
To make the site easier to use, your browser saves a few things in its own storage on your device: your checklist progress on career guides and the state you picked. Your quiz answers are kept in the page address, so you can bookmark or share your results. None of this is sent to us unless you make a save code. You can erase it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Cookies
We don't use cookies for advertising or to track you, and we don't run analytics. A small notice remembers on your device that you've seen it. On our contact page, Cloudflare Turnstile may use a cookie or similar storage to tell people from bots. If you click a link marked "Paid link" and leave our site, that partner may set its own cookies so it can credit us for your sign-up. Those are covered by the partner's privacy policy. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time.
How long we keep it
Contact messages are deleted after one year. Save codes are deleted after one year without use, and you can delete yours at any time from any page that shows it, or on the save code page.
Our service providers
The site runs on Cloudflare, which stores contact messages and save codes for us and sends contact messages to our inbox. Like every web host, it automatically records basic technical details when you load a page, such as your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for. They use these to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and keep them for a limited time. We don't use them to identify you. The contact form also uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam bots; it checks your browser when you use the form and is covered by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
Links to other websites
Many links take you to schools, employers, apps and banks. Once you leave our site, their privacy policies apply, not ours. Some are affiliate links: when you click one, the partner may set its own cookie so it can tell us a sign-up came from Steady Ground and pay us a commission. That information belongs to the partner, and we don't receive your personal details from it. Read how we make money.
We don't sell your information
We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't use what you send us for marketing. If that ever changes, for example if we add an email newsletter or ads, we'll update this policy first and give you clear choices, including any opt-outs your state's privacy law requires.
Children
Steady Ground is meant for adults and older teens planning their working life. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Questions or a request to see or delete what you sent us? Contact us or email support@steadygroundcareers.com.
